But first, if you are not familiar with it, CrossFit is a Sport that combines different elements of fitness such as weightlifting, gymnastics and cardiovascular conditioning. The goal of CrossFit is to improve overall fitness and functional movement through constantly varied, high-intensity workouts.

CrossFit workouts are typically performed in a group setting and involve a wide range of exercises, such as lifting weights, doing bodyweight exercises, and using equipment like kettlebells and medicine balls. Workouts are usually short and intense, with the goal of improving strength, endurance, and overall fitness.

One of the key components of CrossFit is the “WOD,” or “workout of the day.” These workouts are designed to be challenging and to push participants to their limits, while also promoting community and support among participants.

Workouts can be easily adapted to fit one’s needs and weaknesses, which means that every CrossFit workout is designed, at least in principle, to make you train hard.

Now, it’s important to note that Laurie Shaw is not overweight. In fact, he has a very good physique and is strong. On his first CrossFit day, he was already deadlifting his bodyweight multiple times and doing pull-ups. So… not a novice when it comes to fitness-related activities.

Throughout the days, Shaw had a friend to help him out with proper technique. One of the things he learned was to start with light weights, improve the technique, and only then to add more weight.

After a while, he started taking part in the CrossFit classes presented at his local Box. “And the interesting thing I learnt was that I never actually got any easier. In fact, I’d say, if anything, the sessions got harder and more intense.”

And how did it feel after 30 days? “I feel so good. I feel amazing,” Shaw said.

In the end, although it doesn’t look like he gained a lot of muscle (Shaw was quite lean already), he did say he felt much fitter after 30 days of doing CrossFit every day.
