After 9 events and a weekend packed with CrossFit athletes, the Madrid CrossFit Championship came to a close. Russian powerhouse Roman Khrennikov and Icelandic athlete Sólveig Sigurðardóttir won 1st place for elite individuals, while CrossFit Oslo won the team’s category.
The individual winner won each €10.000 and the team won a whopping €12.000. Also, it was revealed during the event that athletes who finished on the podium and the winning team would get an automatic invitation for the Wodapalooza tournament in Miami this January.

Who is Roman Khrennikov?
Roman Khrennikov is one of Russia’s most prominent athletes and is considered a CrossFit legend in his home country and across the globe.
This year he won the Last-Chance Qualifier and got an invitation to participate at the CrossFit Games. Unfortunately, due to visa issues, he was not allowed to compete on American soil. It was the 3rd time he was invited to the Games but was unable to compete.
Who is Sólveig Sigurðardóttir?
Sólveig Sigurðardóttir is a relatively unknown CrossFit athlete from Iceland, despite being in the sport for 8 years.
This was Sólveig Sigurðardóttir’s first competition win in her career. This year, she competed at the Lowlands Throwdown Semifinal event and came out in 13th.
