REFLECTIONS FROM STAGE 1

Khan Porter

“Not the 2020 CrossFit Games I was expecting, but one I’ll never forget.”

What a vibe.

Before the last event I was rolling out on the floor, looking around the room and I started tearing up.

I took myself over to where my dad was sitting (watching his 6th Games) and sat beside him and started to cry. Doing what I love, in a room full of people I love was really, REALLY special.
I don’t know how many more years these old bones have left in them, so the last leg of this journey is emotional for me haha and, despite everything, I’m thankful for this season, exactly the way it was!

I haven’t looked at the leaderboard. I didn’t want to know other people’s scores or have people test things for me. This was me against me, with a bit of help from good mate @brandonswanstrong and of course my 2020 training buddy Harriet Roberts who listened too me change my mind 700 times on my strategies for each event.

I did the best I could in each workout.

I’m a shit squatter.

I’m terrible at HS holds.

But I can hurt and I can push and boy did I do that on the row. Wherever I end up at the end of the weekend, I’m bloody proud of my efforts. And so thankful for the incredible people in my life who made this year’s CrossFit Games so special. Sending out all my love and good vibes to the rest of the athletes still competing and to the other Aussie / Kiwi athletes who left it all on the line over the last few days.

Though I didn’t get to compete beside you, I’m so proud of all of you. I’m going to post recaps and some cool pics my buddy @theinkedshooter captured of each event individually for anyone interested in how I approached them. Along with thanks to certain key people who helped out so much the last two days. But for now, I’m signing back off to hit event 8, the DIY after party ?.”
