Jonne Koski and Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr Win Individual Event 1 at CrossFit Games 2021

Jonne and Tia-Clair wrap up convincing event wins.

Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Finnish Athlete Jonne Koski destroyed the competition to take the top spots in Individual Event 1 at the 2021 CrossFit Games.

Event 1

For time:

1-mile swim with fins
3-mile kayak

Details

Jonne Koski finished in a hugely impressive time of 01:06:44.

After taking an early lead Jonne Koski finished the swim 6 minutes faster than the demo team. Jonne kayaked comfortably across the lake to claim first place and his third career event win.

Last year Jonne finished in 7th place at the Games.

His former mentor Mikko Salo was the 2009 CrossFit Games winner and the last European male Indivudual athlete to win the Games.

Tia-Clair took her 25th event win at The CrossFit Games. Her and Kristi Eramo O’Connell battled across the lake to the sound of playful banter.

However Tia-Clair proved too strong and eased into first to earn herself 100 points.

FLOW

Full rules for the event from CrossFit, “All athletes will start in the water. At the sound of the beep, they will swim out and around the yellow buoys. Once back on the beach, they will take off their fins and move toward the kayaks.

They will then launch their kayak and paddle across the lake using the orange buoys as a guide. As soon as the nose of the boat passes the final buoy gate, they will get out of the boat and swim to the shore. Time stops when they cross the finish line.”
