3 Proven Ways to Get a Six-Pack

The first and best advice to get a six-pack is to have a low body fat percentage in your body and you do that by being in a caloric deficit. “You can’t outwork a bad diet,” Diamonds says.

What Is Caloric Deficit and How Much Is It Safe?

Extra calories that you ingest and don’t burn through daily activities will be stored in your body as fat, even if what you are eating contains little or no fat.

After having your diet in check, you need to begin resistance training to make your abs stronger and have them really pop. Dr Mike Diamonds recommends these exercises to target your abs:

  • Ab crunches
  • Hanging leg raises
  • Cable woodchoppers / Russia twists

The third in our list of proven ways to get a six-pack is simply walking and Dr Mike Diamonds recommends setting a goal of doing at least 8000 steps every day. “This way you can ensure you have a good baseline in terms of overall activity.”

If you are somewhat of a busy person that cannot take the time to go for long walks, you can do moderate-intensity steady-state cardio like walking uphill on a treadmill, which is also really good.

If you are very short on time, throw in a HIIT when you can, but know that it can be taxing on the body and you might need more time to fully recover from it.

Know that having a six-pack takes a long time and is not something you can achieve in a couple of weeks naturally. Take photos of yourself and your weight weekly to see your improvement throughout the weeks to give you excitement to keep going.
